Advocating For Our Children

our foundation

Apexx Advertising is a family-run business rooted in Hampton Bays and the East End community. We’re not only printers and designers — we’re also parents navigating life with two boys on the autism spectrum. We’ve sat in countless evaluations, school meetings, and waiting rooms feeling overwhelmed by acronyms and paperwork, all while trying to make sure our kids felt safe, seen, and supported.

Out of that journey, we created “Advocating for our Children – A Foundation for Autism” — a family-led project focused on support, understanding, and community for kids with autism and the people who love them. We don’t share our story as experts or as a large organization, but as a family that understands how emotional and confusing this process can be, and how much it helps to know you’re not alone.

With gratitude,
The Burriesci Family

What it is

A family-led autism support project

Advocating for our Children – A Foundation for Autism is a family-led community project that lives alongside Apexx Advertising. It grew out of our own journey raising two boys on the autism spectrum.

Through this foundation, our goals are to:

  • Share practical resources about autism, evaluations, IEPs, and school support.
  • Offer real-life strategies that help at home, in the classroom, and in the community.
  • Create sensory-friendly, inclusive activities where kids can be themselves.
  • Give parents a place to ask questions and feel supported, not judged.
How we give back

How Apexx supports the foundation

Our family business is a big part of how we give back. When you work with Apexx Advertising, you’re supporting a local company that quietly reinvests time, energy, and resources into autism awareness and family support.

As this project grows, our goal is to:

  • Use autism-themed spirit wear and fundraisers to help offset the cost of resources and activities.
  • Partner up with the local community on inclusive projects and events.
  • Make parent support a core part of this foundation — offering one-on-one check-ins by message or phone, and small local meetups or support groups when we’re able to organize them.

If you’re a parent or caregiver who would like to connect for support, contact us here and mention "autism support" in your message.

For parents

Support & resources

We know how hard it can be to process new diagnoses, school evaluations, and IEP meetings. Our goal is to share what we’ve learned in simple, real-world language — the kind of guidance we wish we had at the beginning.

On our autism-focused materials, you’ll find information on:

  • Understanding autism and sensory needs
  • Evaluations, IEPs, FBAs, and BIPs
  • Working with schools and service providers
  • Practical tips for home routines and regulation
For kids

Safe, inclusive spaces

Children on the spectrum deserve places where they don’t have to mask who they are. As our project grows, we hope to continue organizing:

  • Small-group playdates and enrichment activities
  • Sensory-friendly, low-pressure events
  • Opportunities to build confidence and friendships

Every child is different, and our goal is always to meet them where they are.

For the community

Awareness & understanding

Autism isn’t just a diagnosis — it’s a different way of experiencing the world. Through printed materials, apparel, and conversations with our customers and partners, we try to:

  • Encourage compassion and patience
  • Highlight strengths and abilities, not just challenges
  • Make it easier for businesses, schools, and teams to be more inclusive
